Five Principle Requirements

Not just anyone can be taught to see the ghostly realm. A greater portion of the population, should they be made truly aware of this parallel dimension, would not be able to comprehend it. Their minds would not be able to grasp its existance and, as a defence mechanism, would shut out everything, even the human realm. And so, as a precaution to make certain that the correct people are chosen to have their third eye opened, as it were, and be allowed to attend a secret academy, five principle requirements were put in place. A person must possess each of the following characteristics or they will not be concidered for secret academy training.

Determination and Endurance: A Ghost Hunter must be able to stick to his or her given assignment no matter the obstacles, may they be physical or mental, put in their way.

Courage and Boldness: One of the significant abilities that spirits possess is to affect the emotional state of humans, inducing fear, panic and terror. The most hard-bitten veteran or greatest intellect can still be paralyzed by the raw horror that radiates from a tortured spiritual entity. So courage, the ability to face fear and continue or step into the unknown, is essential.

Intelligence and Initiative: To ensure their own well being and that of others, a Hunter needs to be capable of thinking quickly and clearly, analyzing tactical or strategic situations, and making informed decisions.

Ethics and Personal Character: To treat spirits and humans alike with respect and refrain from unnecessary violence that can cause problems in the future, a Ghost Hunter needs to be able to appreciate the ethical dimensions and consequences of their actions, and refrain from inappropriate emotional outbursts.

Charisma and Imagination: The Hunter will have to relate to and interact with spirits and people from many unfamiliar backgrounds and walks of life. They must therefore have a genuine, forceful but non-intimidating manner and be able to consider unusual and innovative solutions to problems based on empathy with others and their personal appreciation of situations. And importantly, to even see spirits in the first place a person must be open minded and imaginative!
